This little ship is like a little Europe.

"The Costa Concordia, the new flagship of the Costa Crociere fleet, is set to become Italy's largest cruise ship. The ship - whose name, the owners say, expresses the wish for continuing harmony, unity and peace between European nations - will depart from Civitavecchia on its maiden cruise on July 14 after the final stages of work are completed."

As Nonho has pointed out, the owners (Carnival Corp. An American Giant Corp.) named the ship with a wish in mind for the continuing harmony,unity and peace between European nations. How Sweet. That was 2006 and all seemed sweet and dandy at the time in Europe.

Then, just as the present engineered financial crash was taking off this little ship too had a crash on the 22 Nov 2008 into a dockside (we are told).

Now in 2012, As Europe slides ever downwards and seems to be about to Capsize, this little ship foreshadows these events.

The Captain 52(7) seemingly had 11 years experience.
Everything about this incident doesn't seem right.

I am absolutely on board with the idea (except I don't think we need to rent a boat as the Toremar ferry from porto santo stefano will do just fine), but I might have problems as to when (it should probably be immediately or else at the end of the month for me). Quite amazing that economist issue, Terrence. And this whole story does have few british elements to it. Sure everything can be a coincidence but it is getting harder and harder not to see the metaphor of the sunken ship, agonizing along the beautiful italian shores, as some sort of convoluted, deliberate way of ritualizing or jinxing or threaten or celebrate the fall of the EU. Naturally for any purpose of this sort, the no-victims scenario is probably a requirement, for all the reasons we know.

I have seen that picture of the full lit ship only today for the first time, on some websites. All other night pictures of the boat did not have this characteristic. I don't know what it means, but I don't think it appeared "alwayz" like this. In any case as I said, I just cannot imagine how they could keep the public from figuring out that the ship isn't there. If we do manage to get to Giglio island maybe we'll have a clearer answer to this. Maybe we will find out that the access to the island is in fact barred to anyone except journalists, families, and residents. Which could work for the fakery, assuming all 1,400 resident of the island have been paid off or silenced, which seems rather fantastic.

(p.s. we are told that the Concordia shipwreck can be seen during the Milano-Roma Alitalia flights: http://www.vanityfair.it/news/italia/20 ... o-alitalia --the picture is quite poor, though.)

My brother is home on leave from his ship, he said..

"On a ship that size there should have been at least 5 - 8 officers on duty in the wheel house, possibly as many as 15 with the further assorted watches, lookouts, comms and navigation. To take the ship that close to shore the on-board navigation computers had to be by-passed and switched to manual. Radar, Sonar, GPS. The warning panels would have lit up like a christmas tree and alarms would have rang ship-wide. There would have been warnings too from outside agencies. The owners, the coast guard". Very weird he says!

In the case of the Titanic, we are told, the captain was trying to break the speed record and ignored multiple warnings.

Here we are to believe that the captain wanted to wave to someone on the island. "Yoo-hoo"

The captain's PRIMARY DUTY is to the passengers.

Now, don't get me wrong. I do currently believe that the Costa Concordia ship is there - lying in front of the Giglio port. Yet, I do have trouble reconciling a few available images. For instance, what's the deal with the front deck's shape/dimensions - as compared here?

also thanks for the Jean-Luc Godard connection -- i managed to get my hands on that movie a few days ago but, being Godard devoted to trolling his audience as we all know, I found out that the movie was beautifully shot, and there were great images of the concordia in it, yet the movie was unwatchable and incomprehensible for me. I skipped through it without understanding anything.

relatively to the debate over the "complete fakery" of the event, it can be of some use to know that the corriere.it website has been having a live stream from the Giglio island for quite some time now. It usually runs with few interruptions during the day, and is turned off at night. As I write the images are dark, it is probably about to be turned off -- but it is usually available in the daytime local time. It can be found here:

Isola del giglio is not part of the army. It is a town. Hence you should look for "mayor", not "major", when you do a google search. Better yet, use the italian word, "Sindaco". You're bound to find something.
For the rest, I invite you warmly to stop posting such barely comprehensible nonsense on this board. The surreal claim that Giglio island is artificial, with the never-dying hint of jesuit conspiracy to spice up the nil, seems to me specifically meant to preventively damage any assessment of the situation on the island we might make with our own eyes. Not too smooth, though.
