Farewell wave from al-Megrahi

Unread post by reichstag fireman »

Here, courtesy of BBC News (Sun 20 May), is the final curtain call of "Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi".

'al-Megrahi' was apparently jailed for his alleged role in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.

He apparently died at his Tripoli home late Sunday.

al-Megrahi enters history as the MacGuffin who gifted the West with the pretext for strong-arming Libya through sanctions and military strikes.

Few will mourn his passing (real or imagined) but his final wave should raise an eyebrow or two.

Seen below is al-Megrahi on his death bed.

His writhing arm takes on the form of a snake, roused from its basket by the snake-charmer.

Observations:
  • the magic arm has no mechanical link to the rest of the torso
  • a strategically placed 'pillow' in the right foreground obscures the view of any such link
  • the 'cameraman' develops a severe bout of the wobbles (how inopportune!)
  • headgear across the neckline is an ideal boundary for composition trickery
  • the blanket is unduly raised above the torso, as if added digitally
