Congrats, I think you have indeed discovered the next "big thing."

So simulated compensation funds won by fictional lawyers against .......

whom? And what money is going where?

Can we find cases of a real "representative" of Hklaw going to a court room to collect the money "for the victim"?

Lets assume this place belongs completely 100% to NSA or CIA,
they can have a true layer of real lawyers (still employed by CIA)
Maybe they have some "public" cases to show real law-firm action.
They can hire somebody for dirty work or actors for SIM work.
Additionally they can make a few SIM guys for several SIM issues.
They can pretend to be the lawyer of some SIM people they invented.
For this case some real persons go to court or banks to do signatures and stuff.
Its easy when they belong to CIA and still are Lawyers in there official Life.

Its the perfect interface between the real world and the SIM world.
And of course a lawyer always can refuse to talk about his clients and his projects !!!
Nobody would be able to challenge how they make money and what they really do.

Watch the film "The Devil's Advocate" !!

Uranus,

Would you like to specify (for clarity - and for newcomers) which "place" you're talking about?

I presume you meant to write:

"Lets assume this hklaw.com place belongs completely 100% to NSA or CIA,..."

Yes, exactly. I meant that HKLAW "firm".

Maybe this is anyway the prototype to give thousands of agents some
official job to do, which they can refuse to talk about at their homes and friends.

Of course agents cannot say what they really do, so they need a cover story.
Now put many of them into a law firm and everything is perfect.
Anything else would be much more difficult to make up.

Thanks Simon or Duck!

I'm sure we all are well aware of the US's obsession with all things "Legal". My best guess is that : Several fictitious lawyers were created to "deal" with the fictitious claims - which would only be for public show and to keep the issue of the 9/11 victims and families burning in the Media. These sim lawyers would have to come from established Practices! So genuine firms were allocated with, or themselves, created a bunch of these creatures. Once the Firms got a slice of the 7billion(?) goverrnment pie their mouths would remain shut. Maybe thats where all the money went.

Easy as pie really!

Not a single victim family member has yet registered here to complain.

If the practice is owned by the CIA, then you do not need money to keep their mouth shut.

There might be enough people with formal lawyer education who join the Agencies,
dont you think so ?

I wouldn't discount that possibility - if such a beast exists? But saying it's the CIA specifically or any other branch of Gubment is shooting at a small target! I'd keep my options open or more general! The entire pit of snakes!! The Media, Politicians, Banksters, Lawyers, Terrorist Military, etc.

I've been struggling with this for hours, and have nothing to add to the best guesses above. I haven't found any individual cases with names of the dead, relatives or their reps, which is no surprise.

Some stats from RAND, Jan 2005, http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/defensean ... don911.htm, help none, but add confusion. This report claims the average payment for civilian deaths was 3.1mill, ‘most’ of which came from the Fund. The Final Report from Ken Feinberg and pixelated team: “The average amount the Fund has paid on death claims is 1.8 million.” Am I missing something?

Chris Coverdale suggests that Brits first need to report the war crimes of the UK govt and Royalty to their local police station (great presentation linked by Brianv on this forum; can’t find it now? please repost Brian). Shouldn’t US citizens be doing the same regards misappropriation of public money in the compensation of fictional deaths (amongst much else)? Is there room for a class action? How might that play out?

On the matter of dodgy death tolls, this looks like another: http://www.entrepreneur.com/tradejourna ... 50118.html Jan 2004: “?2,976 families eligible to file death claims?”

What a headache. But worth it, I feel :)

Reading this off the wiki for Holland & Knight made me both laugh and cry. 'Laugh' at how easy it now is to identify perps (thanks for the training, Simon and Hoi), and 'cry' at how obviously government-connected they are. They could easily be CIA-controlled now, since the founder Holland was a Governor and US Senator from Florida. As it turns out, one of their partners 'died' at the WTC, 'in an act that could only be described as truly heroic'.

Mr. Holland served as county judge eight years after the war, then established a law practice in 1929 with W.F. Bevis in Bartow, in Polk County, Florida. In his political career, he served as Florida's governor 1941-1945 during World War II and 24 years as a U.S. Senator 1946-1971. While neither the first native Floridian governor nor first native Senator, he was the first native Floridian to serve in both offices.[citation needed]

When Senator Holland retired at the end of his fourth term as senator in 1970, Senator Sam Ervin said, "I have depended upon him more than any other member of the Senate for advice."

9/11 Memorial Wall

On Sept. 11, when two hijacked airplanes were deliberately flown into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, Glenn Winuk ? a Holland & Knight partner, and volunteer firefighter and EMT ? ran out of his office toward the burning buildings to help. Like so many others, Glenn lost his life in an act that could only be described as truly heroic.

Inspired by those events, Holland & Knight Managing Partner Howell W. Melton, Jr., lawyers and staff throughout the firm's offices began a grassroots campaign to build a tribute dedicated to Glenn and the 343 members of the FDNY who perished. Brian D. Starer was Chief of the Holland & Knight 911 Memorial Wall Committee.

In the fall of 2002, the New York City Fire Department accepted Holland & Knight's offer to fund and build a national memorial in the form of a memorial wall. The Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation established the New York City Firefighter Memorial Wall Fund and began accepting donations and pledges from partners and staff members within the firm. These gifts were added to the remainder of the Ice Fund which had been established at Ground Zero.[5]

The completed 9-11 Memorial Wall[6] depicts FDNY members responding to the scene on Sept. 11 and honors those who responded as well as those who continued to work on-site until recovery operations were completed. A listing of active Fire Department members lost on 9-11 is displayed on the sculpture by rank (in alphabetical order) and includes each member's company number. A timeline of major milestone events pertaining to attacks and the Department's rescue and recover effort also is incorporated into the base of the rendering. An inscription on its upper portion reads, "Dedicated to those who fell and to those who carry on ? May we never forget."
...
The Wall's location is at the Fire Station known as Ladder 10/Station 10 ("Ten House"), directly across the street from the site of the World Trade Center, and one block from Holland & Knight's New York office.

There may be more to learn about them, but I got bored .

On Google images, there is only one picture of the dead sim Glenn Winuk, and one possible picture of him wearing a fireman uniform. Sounds familiar - and fishy, doesn't it?

Thanks for your input on this Simon. Top drawer as would be expected.

In keeping with the underlying theme..

William O. Angelley

Partner

William O. Angelley joined Kreindler & Kreindler LLP in 2003 and became a partner in 2008. His practice is focused on aviation, products liability and other complex litigation.

Before joining Kreindler & Kreindler, Mr. Angelley practiced with an aviation defense firm in Dallas, Texas, where he represented a variety of aviation companies, including maintenance and overhaul facilities, manufacturers, and operators. He has litigated and been lead trial counsel in cases pending in state and federal courts throughout the United States. During the course of his career, Mr. Angelley has been involved in numerous commercial, military and general aviation cases, including:

* American Connection Flight 5966 crash near Kirksville, MO in October 2004;
* Alaska Airlines Flight 261 crash near Anacapa Island, California in January 2000;
* Swissair Flight 111 crash near Halifax, Nova Scotia in September 1998;
* Raytheon Patriot Missile shoot down of a U.S. Navy F/A-18 aircraft in Iraq;
* The crash of a Lear 35 aircraft near Mina, South Dakota in October 1999 that killed professional golfer Payne Stewart;
* The crash of an Army UH-60 helicopter near Fort Hood, Texas in November 2004;
* The crash of a Florida National Guard C-23B transport plane near Unadilla, Georgia in March 2001;
* accidents arising from the failure of Beech T-34 wing structure failures;
* accidents and commercial litigation arising from Lycoming crankshaft failures; and
* accidents arising from Precision Airmotive carburetor and fuel system failures.

Mr. Angelley has been on the forefront of defending against preemption efforts by aircraft manufacturers and their insurers. Preemption is a legal theory used by many aviation defendants in an attempt to immunize themselves from law suits, thus stripping away the rights of victims, by arguing that the Federal Aviation Regulations replace traditional negligence and products liability standards. In the aviation context, preemption is a dubious theory and Mr. Angelley has been integral in obtaining several key rulings denying such efforts.

Mr. Angelley has published numerous articles concerning aviation law and is a frequent speaker at legal education forums and bar association meetings. Some of his articles and speeches are listed below:

* Author, Plaintiff Thwarts Cessna's Preemption Arguments in Monroe v. Cessna,
AAJ Aviation Section Newsletter, Vol. 14, No. 2, Winter 2007.
* Author, The Need for Mandatory Aviation Insurance, AAJ Section Newsletter, Vol. 15, No. 2, Winter 2008 (with Justin T. Green).
* Speaker, A Discussion of Monroe v. Cessna Aircraft Company, New York City Bar Association, June 2006.
* Speaker, Update on the September 11, 2001 Victim Compensation Fund and Related Litigation, Lubbock Bar Association, May 2004.
* Speaker/Author, Field Preemption and the Federal Aviation Regulations, SMU
Airlaw Symposium, February 2003.
* Author, The September 11 Victim Compensation Fund, Texas Bar Journal, January 7, 2002.
* Speaker, Aviation Product Liability Insurance, Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Conference, June 2001.

Mr. Angelley graduated with honors from Texas Tech University in 1988. After graduation, he entered the United States Navy flight program and received his wings in July 1990. During his tenure in the Navy, Mr. Angelley accumulated more than 1100 flight hours in fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. He also served as a detachment maintenance officer and operations officer for his squadron. Mr. Angelley holds commercial pilot ratings in airplanes and helicopters.

After spending six years in the Navy, Mr. Angelley entered law school at the University of Texas in Austin and graduated in 1997. While in law school, he participated in various mock trial and moot court competitions and founded the Texas Aviation Law Association.

Mr. Angelley is a member of the State Bars of Texas, California and New York. He has been admitted to practice in all Texas Federal Courts and the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the New York City Bar Association, where he has served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Aviation Section.

Before attending law school, Mr. Rose served in the United States Navy as a carrier-based attack pilot on board the U.S.S. Independence, where he participated in Desert Shield.

Mr. Rose is a licensed commercial multi-engine airplane and seaplane pilot with instrument ratings. He has accumulated 1,200 hours of flight time.

While at Kreindler & Kreindler LLP, Mr. Rose has worked on numerous commercial airline, commuter, military and general aviation crash cases, including the November 12,2001 crash of American Airlines Flight 587 and the SwissAir Flight 11 1 litigation.
