The sun is a constant light source. The WHOLE of the moon's suface should be illuminated evenly. Instead, we observe "fall off". Fall off is determined by the strength of an ARTIFICIAL light source.

I use it within my 3d software all the time when lighting an environment and will post an example later to illustrate quite categorically that the moon footage is fake.

I find that often the easiest way to find the origins of an image is to use the google images reverse search (by dragging the picture onto the google images search form). Pretty cool function.

In this case it returns this:

which indicates a number of sources on Nasa websites. Among them, history.nasa.gov, here http://history.nasa.gov/ap11ann/kippsphotos/apollo.html labels the picture "Flag and TV camera viewed from LM window", and that's it. Pretty laconic, eh?

Incidentally doing this search I found these versions of "restored" Apollo 11 videos:

Funny like that, even these videos are available in HD now.

the same picture is labeled even more stupidly: "Footprints on Another World" and no explanations are given as to the source.

At this page: http://images.jsc.nasa.gov/luceneweb/ca ... _year=3000 yet another resolution of the same picture, it is labeled "Flag of the U.S. deployed on surface of the Moon", followed by this description:

The flag of the United States, deployed on the surface of the Moon, dominates this photograph taken from inside the Lunar Module. The footprints of Astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. stand out blah blah.

This seems to indicate that a picture was taken by one of the two spacemen that matched exactly what the camera had filmed minutes before. But I thought the camera was fixed and automatic. Hmm...
