I'm back to this thread since it turns out that, not long after I had left this thread for dead, in September 2011 the Italian Association for Victims of Terrorism or AVITER did link to a set of information in regards to the Italian victims of 9/11, calling it a "first draft" (10 years for a first draft?, which hasn't been worked on for the following 6 years? Great job... After all it's only the most crucial and important "terror" attack of human history, but whatever.)
The link is the following, incredibly enough hosted on Scribd (uploaded on 6 Sept. 2011):
https://www.scribd.com/doc/64049965/Ele ... -dell-11-9as linked by AVITER here
http://www.vittimeterrorismo.it/memorie/vittime119.htmIf you are annoyed by Scribd's limitations, I have uploaded it
here.
Too bad the list is once again the completely bogus mix of Italian-American sounding names computer-generated back on 9/11, with their morphed-rendered pictures.
The hypocrisy of AVITER is paramount, as they have no qualms in calling their list "Italian and Italian-American victims of 9/11", without making ANY effort in telling us which is which. American burgers might live in the cozy delusion that an Italian-American and a native Italian are the same thing. Italians should know better.
In fact, only very few of the names in the list actually sound Italian, in the sense of a holder of Italian passport born on Italian soil. Double passport holders might have had Italian parents and never set foot in Italy in their life. Their names might be John, Louise, Bernard...
Here we are looking for the 10 native Italian victims of 9/11 Foreign Minister Ruggiero referred to in the article linked earlier in the thread, explaining that of the 37 victims, 27 had dual passports and 10 had only Italian passports.
I have shortlisted and researched the following identities,
after having removed all the ones which unequivocally sounded and/or looked Italian-American (most of those with English first names, for example -- @corsarino: this simple criteria also voids of any sense the list you linked to
from Il Giornale):

"Angelo Amaranto", according to
Legacy.com "a native of Salerno"
-- can be considered Italian

"Arturo Angelo Sereno", whose "mother" seems to have appeared at the infamous commemoration at the Italian Consulate, as documented (?) on
findagrave.com, cannot be considered Italian since legacy.com mentions a father "Tom" and a sister "Nancy", so what the heck was the mother doing at the Italian consulate?
-- cannot be considered Italian

"Daniela Rosalia Notaro", according to
this deliberation of the municipality of a small Italian town, she was born in Brooklyn from Italian parents
-- might be a double passport holder

"Elvira Granitto",
according to this article "Granitto, of Naples, Italy"
-- can be considered Italian

"Giovanna Galletta Gambale", according to
Legacy had a father named "Anthony", so scratch this one
-- cannot be considered Italian

"Antonio Luparello", nice try,
Legacy.com calls him "Anthony"
-- cannot be considered Italian

"Gino Luigi Calvi", alternatively only "Luigi" or "Gino" or "Gene" depending on the commemorative website you go to. Might be regarded as Italian although
the story of him fixing a Volkswagen "Rabbit" in his youth doesn't sound too Italian, since this kind of car is called "Golf" in Europe.
-- unlikely to be considered Italian

* "Franco Lalama", "Born in Italy, Mr. Lalama, of Nutley, N.J., came to New Jersey in 1963, when he was 7" (
Legacy).
-- can be considered Italian

* "Salvatore Gitto". We are told he worked for a company called "Marsh & McLennan", so I googled "Marsh & McLennan Companies 9/11 victims memorial" and got to
this site where, unsurprisingly, we are offered memorials reprinted from Legacy.com which in turn reprinted them from the New York Times. They want us to believe that they have "lost 295 employees" on 9/11, but cannot take the time to churn out decent biographies of them?
So how did the NYT do it, anyway? But I digress.
Findagrave says he was born in New York.
-- might be a double passport holder

* "Salvatore Fiumefreddo" , according to
this article "Born in Oakwood, the New Dorp High School graduate moved to Manalapan, N.J., 10 years ago"
-- cannot be considered Italian

"Salvatore Calabro".
Legacy mentions "his mother Connie"
-- cannot be considered Italian

"Lucia Crifasi". According to Legacy, her family came to America in 1958. Her birth is given by
findagrave in 1950.
-- can be considered Italian

"Laura Marchese".
This article mentions parents "Anthony and Lorraine".
-- cannot be considered Italian

"Marcello Matricciano". According to
this horrific book I've just found out about, he was born in New York, to Italian parents.
-- might be a double passport holder

"Maria Percoco Vola".
Findagrave says born in New York.
-- cannot be considered Italian

"Lisa Trerotola".
This article states "born in Brooklyn".
, but her mother "Irene Spina" is an impersonator suing the Saudis over 9/11 as google shows... the name sounds Italian enough. -- might be a double passport holder

"Salvatore Pepe". Once again
the horrific book mentions "born in the Bronx", to Italian parents.
-- might be a double passport holder(all images taken from the PDF on Scribd linked above)
So what do we have? 4 native Italians, a few "maybe" Italians which may or may not have a double passport... and the incredible thing is that even these 4 are never mentioned, never remembered, never talked about or used as media fodder on the Italian media, a media known for being open to use pretty much anything to get ratings.
Of course this list makes no sense in the first place since all identities of 9/11 victims are completely imaginary! (better specify this).
However this stands to show how little consistency or credibility is there to the story of the 10 or 27 or whatever the number of Italians who died on 9/11. Wikipedia, unsurprisingly, is
full of shit, and to this day we don't know who these "people" are supposed to be.
