it was no ordinary political rally; it was more like a live-action made for tv movie...

...i think jean should've put a bit more rehearsal time in at frankenheimer's place the night before...

"Frankenheimer became a close friend of Senator Robert F. Kennedy during the making of The Manchurian Candidate in 1962. In 1968, Kennedy asked Frankenheimer to make some commercials for use in the presidential campaign, at which he hoped to become the Democrat candidate. On the night he was assassinated in June 1968, it was Frankenheimer who had driven Kennedy from the Los Angeles Airport to the Ambassador Hotel for his acceptance speech"

...the dude who announced his death to the world was frank mankiewicz, the son of herman mankiewicz. herman was the screen writer for 'citizen kane'. citizen kane was released by bobby's daddy's film studio, rko.

bobby and jean's big sis, kick, married into the cavendish clan. her husband was to inherit the devonshire dukedom but we're told he was killed in the war a month before her big brother was killed in a bomber that blew up. kick's father-in-law, the 10th duke of devonshire, was the grandmaster of the united grand lodge of england. the grand master's sister was married to harold macmillan and his brother was married to fred astaire's big sis. kick was also sister-in-law to debo mitford bytheway. kick would die in a plane crash like a good narrative device should a few years after her husband and brother were written out of the narrative.
