A Letter to Simon Shack and His Followers

"I did get an answer from Miles about Simon's question, but I am now certain that the answer is B (and am also certain that is what Miles would answer)." Sooo... you DID get an answer from Miles? Really? Aaand? Why won't you share MM's answer with us, daddie? Are your e-mails with MM shro...

Re: Discussing Miles W. Mathis

These comments are a reply to Vera. I'm not going to get into a debate about Pi=4, since that thread is on lockdown and the subject verboten, but I do want to reply to a couple of points here that don't have anything to do directly with the question of the value of Pi: You write that: The whole basi...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

In order words: Miles Mathis predicts an apparent speed-up of 21% precisely at the end of the curve and the beginning of the straight part. And this is what we are trying to prove or disprove here. He would call it "apparent" because the speed-up is only observed if you measure the distan...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

As for your last comment to bongostaple that he is wrong, I understand that you don't mean that you are automatically right. But that you are still open for the possibility that you are both wrong. Yes, since every argument he has brought forward has been refuted (by you as well) and he has nothing...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

It is also a great question, where does this energy come from. We know the attractive force as gravity. And we think of it is a property of matter, although why/how this works I do not know. The repulsive force we can call anti-gravity, and it may be some property of matter too. To follow-up on Vex...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

Based on your responses to bongostaple, you are to a greater or lesser extent insinuating that those unwilling to call a circle a square (Simon, brianv, SCS, Kham, aa5, myself and likely many others) are either stupid, lazy, poor readers, time wasters, paid trolls or FUD disseminators, or any combi...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

In fact, what I actually get is that you think it's OK to call me stupid, because you think your are right and I am wrong. You may well be right. Or I may well be right. But I can say with certainty, I won't be calling you 'stupid', 'lazy', or the most playground of all, 'mongo'. Because I don't fe...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

I agree that the effect of friction is gradual and cumulative while the effect that M.M. is talking about would be instantenous as soon as the ball starts its circular path. But it is hard to tell the difference in the video, maybe I am a bit lazy. We have no way of knowing many times Steven Oostdi...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

There absolutely is an appreciable lag - in both cases. At the first quarter mark, the circle path ball has travelled a quarter of a revolution of the circular path, and the straight path ball has travelled a quarter of the line from '0' to '4'. YES! THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE EXPERIMENT! These...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

Seneca - ref your last paragraph, there is a further force, if I can try to describe it Bongo, according to your description, this 'further force' should act to slow down the ball more and more as it goes through the curve, akin to friction. In this case we would expect to see the ball slow down mo...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

daddie_o, thanks for spending your time to understand the experiment I proposed. I like your translation. In you example l=25 cm which is OK. I think if you make it smaller the possible effect of "kinetic Pi=4" will increase relative to the effect of friction. But l should be big enough t...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

what I described as slowing the ball down wasn't just friction, it was (whatever it is or isn't) caused by the tube forcing the ball around a curve, therefore transferring energy. And I showed you earlier why that argument doesn't hold water: http://www.cluesforum.info/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1925...

Re: Physical π : Pi's relationship to 4

It seems to me the debunkers of MM's Pi=4 theory have the stronger points. What points? They haven't made any counter-arguments. All they have are questions. But they apparently lack the intellectual curiosity to seek the answers by reading the work of the person who made the argument in the first ...
