Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

Haven't you compromised yourself and your work colleagues by joining "Cluesforum" in that case? Seriously, how many ex-military/civilian contractors are decommissioning old nuclear subs at Puget? Unless of course... Not at all, why would you even suggest that? There are lots of ex-Navy wo...

Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

Larkness As one new member to another could I ask a) How much time have you read/lurked here before joining? There are thousands upon thousands of hours of research here covering many different topics. I lurked for many years before joining, after researching, validating and satisfying things for m...

Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

This seemed to be the only verifiable claim he is making. So I checked it out using the same information. His numbers are all wrong. Based on my calculations: more than half the posts are from the top 14 contributors (not top 4!) 90% from the posts are from the top 155 contributors (not top 12!) 62...

Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

It would be nice if it seemed as though you were respectful, but our definitions of that may be different. I will try to read your words as though you are mustering respect for us. I would ask you to bear in mind that text is a pretty ineffectual way of both full human communication (compared with ...

Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

Dear Larkness, I'm honestly trying my best to believe in your honesty. Hope that doesn't sound too weird to you. Why would you not believe me? Have you ever toured a nuclear power ship? Ever had a chance to learn how it is built and operated? ...I just have to wonder: do you really believe in the s...

Re: Does Rocketry Work in the Vacuum?

I suppose it means nothing to you since you think nothing can get into orbit on a rocket. What do you think is up there anyway and how did it get there?

Re: Does Rocketry Work in the Vacuum?

Larkness, I have actually enjoyed reading my own past musings - which you are now quoting (and critiquing) one by one. I can hardly find any fault with them. Your critiques are simply parroting the mumbo-jumbo that NASA has fed us for over half a century. I'll let everyone judge for themselves what...

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum

*To be sure, only NASA has large enough vacuum chambers to perform any sort of experimental verification of what I'm about to contend. The ESA has a 10 by 15 meter vacuum chamber designed to test spacecraft. Is this large enough? http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Space_Engineering_Technology/Test_c...

Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

Woah, woah, hotshot. Welcome, but I think we need to ask some questions about the nature of your visit before you start posting all around our forum. I can do that. You most certainly understand that if people working for the military are coming here to "correct" our thinking,.... I'm not...

Re: Re:

If you continue to post the way you have in the rocketry thread, using rhetorical language in lieu of a scientific argument, it doesn't demonstrate you actually understand what you're saying. Actually each sentence in my post does have meaning and is not meant to be rhetoric. Please calm down and w...

Re:

I asked why YOU were making the claims. So far I'm not impressed with the "facts" you are bring to the forum. Thanks for bringing some well-documented common sense to debunk NASA's outlandish claims of having rockets moving in a vacuum. Also, anyone with a modicum of aeronautical knowledge...

Re: NASA - the tallest of all tales

I have personally come to the conclusion that space travel is impossible (no rockets can be propelled in the absence of air, let alone switch off their engines and keep orbiting indefinitely and "for free" around our planet at hypersonic speeds!) How did you come to the conclusion that ro...

Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

I can only take a camera into the shipyard with the command's permission, so there is no way I can obtain photos of an open submarine core. I don't risk execution, :) but I would certainly lose my security clearance and my job. There will be photos taken of the open core I'm sure, but they will be c...

Re: Radiation: the truth, the lies, the fear

I've been involved in the US Navy's nuclear power program since the 1980's, was stationed on various nuke subs until the late 1990's. It's been my experience that exposure to ionizing radiation has become more conservative over the years with allowable limits going down. I recall some Navy training ...

Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

I'm about 20 miles away rom Seattle/Harbor Island as the crow flies, might as well be another country culturally as far as I'm concerned. Wouldn't have noticed it was planned unless I read the news as I got my head buried in training to defuel a decommissioned nuclear powered submarine.
