Re: REQUIRED: Introduce Yourself

[...] Brasil [...] owes nothing to the international moneychangers... Really? If that were so, Brazil would be painted in the media as an evil empire and the international war machine would long since have been deployed. Are you by any chance a supporter of the Brazilian workers´ party (PT)? You mi...

Anyway, I am not so sure about the great and powerful Tesla being the One True Science Master Agree, we were all brainwashed to take Tesla as a witty inventor and technician, just a skillful lad. The truth is Tesla left us 700+ patents, including the X-rays, laser, wireless communication (WiFi), re...

Re: Sci-Fi Fathers of NASA (Arthur C. Clarke, Rodenberry, et

Lo and behold ! This is the almost exact same figure now commonly accepted (by NASA and all) as the escape velocity needed for an object to exit from our Earth's atmosphere! Yet, Jules Verne somehow calculated this figure back in 1865? Amazing ! ... Well, a far more likely, non-nonsense proposition...

Re: Sci-Fi Fathers of NASA (Arthur C. Clarke, Rodenberry, et

BTW, I recommend getting a copy of the Dec 1966 issue of National Geographic and keeping it handy to show anyone who brings up the "reflectors on the moon proof" malarkey. I bought a copy on eBay for a few dollars. The magazine has an article about lasers which mentions that MIT has been ...

Re: Does Rocketry Work in the Vacuum?

I've read all the 39 pages of this thread, and, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't find the escape velocity as an argument Dear Feblogger, welcome. I have mentioned the silly "escape velocity" concept fantasy (invented by Jules Verne back in 1865) on this other thread of the...

Re: Does Rocketry Work in the Vacuum?

I've read all the 39 pages of this thread, and, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't find the escape velocity as an argument. We all learnt that a rocket has to gain the First Escape Velocity in order to leave the Earth's gravitation. But we don't speak of a truck having to have an "...
