The so-called "YouTube shooting", April 2018

The shooter at Youtube HQ is designed to blackwash all of us complaining of censorship. It's as badly devised as usual: "Those who have looked at the videos describe “Nasim” as creepy and unnatural. Apparently, they don’t realize that this is coming from the CGI (computer-generated imagery), pixel w...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

by starfish prime on March 29th, 2018, 11:15 am An object dropped and one projected forward from the same height will land at the same moment. There is no orbital velocity that an object can reach allowing it to simply freefall around the Earth without constantly consuming fuel. You know, starfish,...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

Flabbergasted, if my purpose were to prove that rocketry is possible I would have to answer all challenges to it. My purpose is merely to show that CF misinterprets Newton's 3d as it applies to lift-off, flight in atmosphere, or vacuum. And therefore impairs its credibility.

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

Altair at 8:16 AM said To put it simply, we can give a hoot about the exit speed of the gas, because what "pushes" the rocket upwards is good old plain pressure against the rocket's structure. If you think that just accelerating the gas will produce such pressure against the nozzle walls, so let it...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

by patrix » April 2nd, 2018, 7:31 pm So the NASA rockets move by pushing at themselves with "superheated" compressed gas from the inside then. Same old same old. Physics says no If the movement of the gas inside the rocket causes it to exit, that movement will propel the rocket. If the movement of ...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

by Altair on April 2nd, 2018, 9:51 pm There's one important difference between gas expansion and the 'pushing' of a liquid or solid body. Intermolecular forces between molecules of a gas follow a completely different set of laws, and you cannot apply Newton's Laws to them. Newton's laws apply to ma...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

bongostaple says April 2nd, 2018, 6:55 am NASA rocket thrust equations seem to ignore the density of whatever matter/air/etc is already sitting there when the burning fuel comes out of the nozzle. Are we expected to believe that a rocket on a launchpad and a rocket already in the air produce exactly...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

Patrix said, "Why all these weird analogies when it's easy to conclude the non effect of gas expansion in vacuum?"

The superheated, compressed gas is NOT within a vacuum when it has its effect; it's still inside the nozzle and its effect-- propulsion of both rocket & gas-- is manifest upon exit.

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

Star prime, you're missing the crux of my argument. You and hoi polloi say, "As the exhaust exits the nozzle, it will not be directed by an atmosphere into a condensed stream generating thrust in the opposite direction. Rather, the exhaust molecules/atoms will disperse in every direction, counteract...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

Patrix says on 3/27/18 It is easy to perform a controlled experiment (which have been done numerous times) that disproves rockets would work in an unrestricted vacuum such as space. All needed is to show that when a gas is allowed to expand freely, it performs no work. That alone disproves that rock...

Re: THE "CHATBOX"

Clued in, I followed Tracy's site very closely from SandyHook Hoax until it was killed. It was obvious to me that Fetzer was the only one who was offering him any visibility or help when he'd lost his job. Also Fetzer appeared to be helping SandyHook disclosure, so I guess Tracy submerged his doubts...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

Patrix says-- Please undertand that a "violent" gas expansion (explosion) follow the same proven physics as a slower one. As an analogy, sound does not propagate through vacuum, and it will make no difference if you scream. An excellent point, Patrix-- and one which I had forgotten when looking at t...

Re: THE "CHATBOX"

Anybody interested in following or summarizing the Parkland, FL school shooting which occurred 2/14/18, with 17 dead & 17 wounded? The usual BS. Lots of coverage of it on http://MemoryHoleBlog.org. They've brought in a few stories about it from round the web. This is the Op that led to the recent no...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

Hoi poloi, Thank you for your time & the long post listing some arguments for the impossibility of rocketry. I was aware of them, having read the thread. My insistence upon discussing only the one which I can readily see is invalid was not in any way to deny the existence of others. You deny the imp...

Re: Does Rocketry Work beyond Earth's atmosphere?

dzblitz, Thank you for an interesting analysis, whose conclusion is A rocket is . . . just an object with a continuous explosion at one end, and it rides the blast wave of the energetic event occurring at its nozzle. An explosion and its blast wave will expand in all directions until it meets resist...
