Re: The 'cold' of space and our Universe that isn't

I think somebody in this thread argued that the Earth is not rotating around itself because we don't feel the spin. Here is an interesting article on the subject (not very illuminating, but it is easy to understand). At the equator, the Earth is spinning at 1000 miles per hour about its axis and mov...

Re: The SSSS

In your diagram, the sun's declination varies 23,6º between August and October, but look at the sun's altitude , it changes from 76.1º to 80.3º, only 4º! , because you have located the observer in the Earth's equator. If the observer is near the north pole, the sun's altitude will vary from 19.2º t...

Re: The SSSS

Exactly, Heiwa, I agree with your comments, except in one detail: noon is written as 12 pm, not 12 am: The 30th edition of the U.S. Government Style Manual (2008) sections 9.54 and 12.9b recommends the use of "12 a.m." for midnight and "12 p.m." for noon Noon That's why I prefer ...

I like this simulator, I've been using it since I started to participate in this thread. http://www.cluesforum.info/viewtopic.php?p=2386552#p2386552 http://www.septclues.com/UNIVERITY/CopernicanSOLARSYSTEMquestion4.gif The five arrows at upper right seem to suggest that vertical Sun-Earth angle is s...

Re: The SSSS

We also can click on "celestial sphere" instead of "orbit view" and obtain the same results. This would be the geocentric view.

Re: The SSSS

In this diagram I posted I see now more clearly why near the solstices the declination changes less rapidly than near the equinoxes. http://www.astro.com/im/haeuser_aequatorsystem1_e.gif The movement of the Sun in the ecliptic has two components: north-south (declination) and east-west (right ascens...

Re: The SSSS

I have understood that Simon has taken away the small Earth's orbit (around what?, as I asked in a previous post) from his model, by simply putting the equatorial plane in the horizontal plane, instead of the ecliptic plane. But that's a simple change of perspective! http://www.septclues.com/UNIVERI...

Re: THE DERAILING ROOM

Btw, Tycho's model never involved a colliding Mars and Sun - as I will soon expound and graphically demonstrate. Just a note, I don´t think Tycho thought that Mars and Sun would collide, but the spheres where they were located. Are you aware that Tycho rejected the motion of the Earth? For him, the...

Re: The SSSS

Simon, it seems to me that you are proposing a geocentric-heliocentric model, like the Tychonian model, adding a new small round orbit of the Earth (around what?), just to explain the analemma, seasons, absence of parallax and other things. As I explained before, there is no way to distinguish betwe...

Re: THE DERAILING ROOM

This is how Tycho Brahe solved the problem of the colliding Mars and Sun  When viewing the diagram of his system, many of his contemporaries objected to the intersection of the sphere of the sun with the sphere of Mars. Some even thought that this meant Mars and the sun might collide! This...
