(Russians What?) The Yuri Gagarin Hoax

If NASA faked the moon landings, does the agency have any credibility at all? Was the Space Shuttle program also a hoax? Is the International Space Station another one? Do not dismiss these hypotheses offhand. Check out our wider NASA research and make up your own mind about it all.

(Russians What?) The Yuri Gagarin Hoax

Unread post by hollycrap »

On April 12th 1961, Yuri Gagarin was officially the first man ever sent to space, but ...

Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was never in Space

Image Image

Gagarin was much celebrated and became a legend in USSR.
He died tragically in an accident in strange conditions.

A Soviet propaganda hoax has been revealed in the former communist countries (for example Hungary, Estonia and Poland). It was a myth that everyone had really believed in, that the Soviet Air Force officer Yuri Gagarin had made a space-flight. Many Western governments were aware of this Soviet bluff but did not want to reveal the truth. It was not intended for the people to know that the Soviet Union was a backward state.

One interesting book about this is "Gagarin: A Cosmic Lie" ("Gagarin - kozmikus hazugsig," Budapest, 1990) by the Hungarian journalist Istvin Nemere. Not one word about the contradictions surrounding Gagarin's "journey into space" have been published in Sweden, where the Soviet Union is still regarded with a great deal of respect. Such a revelation would be far too embarrassing.

Until 1961, the United States had managed to send up 42 satellites, the Soviet Union only 12. The United States also informed the world that Alan Shepard would make a space journey in the spacecraft Freedom 7 on 5 May, 1961.

The Soviet Union was forced to do something to save face. For this reason a Soviet cosmonaut, Vladimir Ilyushin, was sent up into space on 7 April, 1961. The Americans intercepted several radio communications between him and the space centre in the Soviet Union. Ilyushin's landing failed and he was seriously injured. He could not be shown to the public. It was claimed that he had been injured in a car accident. He was sent to China to receive better medical treatment.

The Russian TV documentary "Cosmonaut Cover-Up" (2001) also claims that on 7 April, 1961, Vladimir Ilyushin left for space, got into trouble during the first orbit, and crash-landed in China during the third orbit. Ilyushin was badly injured. He was returned to the Soviet Union a year later. Ilyushin was killed in an engineered car accident in 1961.

The Soviet Union did not have a spare capsule at that time and in Moscow it was decided to orchestrate a huge bluff, a cosmic lie.

Radio Moscow claimed that a Soviet cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, had been sent up into space on the morning of 12 April, 1961 with the space-rocket Mostok. According to the official announcement, he had already landed and was in fine health. The whole world believed this except for the Western intelligence services. They had not managed to register any radio communication between Gagarin and the space centre.

This hoax was sloppily orchestrated. Polish newspapers announced already on the morning of 12 April that a Soviet cosmonaut had been in space. Newspapers in other countries did not report Gagarin's flight until 13 April.

In a book written for the West, Soviet propagandists claimed that simple peasants recognized Yuri Gagarin soon after he landed in a field and enthusiastically shouted: "Gagarin, Gagarin!" But nothing about his "space journey" had been reported at that time, no pictures of him had been published and his name had not been mentioned. The message from radio and TV was sent out 35 minutes after the alleged journey. Were the peasants psychic?

The newspaper Sovetskaya Rossiya claimed that Gagarin was wearing a blue flightsuit when he landed. In his memoirs, Gagarin himself claimed he was dressed in an orange flightsuit.

At his press conference, Gagarin read from notes when he "related" his journey. During the press conference, he made several crucial mistakes. Gagarin stated that weightlessness was no problem. Everything seemed just normal. We now know that this is not the case. The cosmonaut German Titov, for example, had difficulties with his balance and had heart problems. American astronauts experienced similar symptoms.

Gagarin then made his most serious mistake, despite the fact that he was constantly assisted by experts, who often spoke about discoveries in space. He said: "Then I saw South America".

This is impossible. At that time it was night in South America, which meant that it could not be seen at all. According to the official reports, Gagarin began his "space journey" at 9:07 Moscow time. He was supposed to have flown over South America at 9:22 Moscow time. In Chile, the time would have been 2:22, in Brazil 3:22. He could never have reached South America in 15 minutes. For other cosmonauts it took 45 minutes.

Foreign journalists wondered: "When will the photographs that Gagarin took in space be published?" Gagarin was silent, thought for a moment and answered: "I didn't have a camera with me!"

Even unmanned Soviet space probes had photographic equipment on board. It would have been an important propaganda triumph to publish Gagarin's pictures from space. The Soviet Union would never have missed an opportunity like that. Shepard's pictures were cabled out immediately. Parts of his flight were also shown on TV.

At the press conference, it was never explained whether Gagarin landed in his capsule or was ejected. If he had used the catapult seat, he would have become several centimetres shorter. This could easily have been ascertained. All pilots who have catapulted have become somewhat shorter as a result of spinal deformation.

When Gagarin wanted to travel in space for real in 1968, he was disposed of, according to Istvin Nemere. His plane exploded on 27 March the same year. The official report concerning this event contained many contradictions. The report was classified during the communist period. It claimed that there was not much left of Gagarin's body after the crash. In that case, how did his flightsuit come to land in the top of a tree?

There are far too many questions surrounding Gagarin's spaceflight in April 1961. A British team of researchers who questions the propaganda surrounding manned journeys to the moon also confirms this information. When will the truth be admitted officially?

On 12 April 2001, the Russian senior engineer Mikhail Rudenko, at the Experimental Design Office 456, in Khimki in the Moscow region, admitted in Pravda that three cosmonauts had died in space before Gagarin was sent up, namely Alexei Ledovskikh (1957), Serenti Zhaborin (February 1958), and Andrei Mitkov (flight attempt January 1959).

The Russian journalist and cosmonaut candidate (June 1965) Yaroslav Golovanov (1932-2003) wrote in his book "Cosmonaut One" that on 10 November 1960, another cosmonaut, Byelokonyev, also died on board a space-ship in orbit. Several sources reveal that 7-11 cosmonauts have died in orbit before Gagarin.

The CIA knew about the Gagarin bluff but said nothing. Instead they have come up with more and more ridiculous lies themselves. (Juri Lina, Architects of Deception. The Concealed History of Freemasonry. Referent Publishing Stockholm, 2004. p. 26-29).

A little before, the soviets had tried to send a rocket with a man aboard to space, but the flight failed; the rocket could not be put in orbit (what the NASA engineers confirmed), and the cosmonaut made a brutal return to earth

He got serious wounds, and was sent to China to heal his wounds; to hide the failure, the Russians authorities said he had had an accident.

The Russians had lost a trained man and a capsule, and the time was running short: The Americans were about to send their own first man to space.

Miraculously, the Russians managed the exploit, to beat the Americans in the space race, and send the first man ever in space.
But did they?

Image

Just some days later, rumors of hoax began to spread.
The doubters were outlining many anomalies about this flight.
The article shown here comes from the newspaper "Palm beach post" dated April 19th 1961.

Here are some excerpts.

Image

And here is an article from another newspaper "Lewingston Evening Journal" dated May 12th 1961

Image

So if you have followed the Gagarin story so far and read through the article above probably this paragraph caught your attention.

Image

Although researchers, politicians, and journalists all doubted the veracity of the story of Gagarin having conquered space: NASA were the only to vouch for the authenticity of the scam.

Do you get my drift?

From what we have learnt so far about the cosmonaut gagarin Hoax, it was thanks to NASA's sponsorship that the hoax was finally accepted by the US.

Le'ts take a look at the images from that time after the NASA supported hoax became common belief...

The day of Gagarin's alleged high atmosphere flight ("space flight")

Headlines about Gagarin in the "USA": Now They all believed that he was really in space, without one single foto of the "space flight". Gagarin is dressed in a parachute jumping suit.

So, which photo is right? Something must be wrong here. right?

Note: A movie hammering the hoax into our minds was released this year.

The newspaper articles above show that Gagarin's flight was surrounded with many anomalies that the soviet authorities gave no explanations about.

These anomalies are going to be described in what follows.

First, just before the departure, the hatch was reopened for an unexplained reason.

Image

Then, and it's the main point, It seems Gagarin was systematically announcing itinerary events long before they were really occurring.

Image

Image

Gagarin announced he was flying over South America whereas he had not still covered the third of the distance separating his departure point from South America!

Indeed, he made this announcement less than a quarter of an hour after he departed, and he was needing at least three quarters of an hour to reach it (this is what his successors needed).

Image

Then whereas he was still at an altitude of 200 miles, he announced he could clearly see the fields and collective farms (kolkhozes)

Image

To give you an idea what an altitude of 200 miles means, here is a view extracted from Google earth at an altitude of 200 miles:

On it you can see several France departments!

How could one distinguish things as minute as fields and farms?

In fact, it was most probable that it was a tape-machine which was talking, and not Gagarin, and that this tape-machine would have started too early, which would explain the time shift between the oral transmission and the actual position of the space ship!

Image

And there is also this strange contradiction of Gagarin saying he had a nice view of the earth through the porthole...

...Whereas the russian space rocket chief said his space ship had no porthole!

Image

And finally, instead to returning to earth normally like Alan Shepard did, that is inside his cabin (the only way to have the flight accredited) ...

Image

..Gagarin descended like a simple parachutist...

...while his space ship (Vostok) was crashing on the ground.

Image

And still more strange, Gagarin landed exactly at the place he used to do his parachute trainings!

Image

In fact, it seems very probable that Gagarin was dropped from a plane.

Another strange thing: On this official picture of Gagarin taken just before he departed, he has a bruise at an eye he only got some months later in an accident!

Image

Gagarin also wrote in his memoirs he had a blue space suit, when the officials said he had an orange one!

How is it possible to forget such a thing?

Image

This official photo shows Gagarin under four angles in his cabin...but his cabin only had two TV cameras!

How could they take photos under these four angles?

Image

Before all these anomalies, an Illinois representative, Roman Pucinski said it was not possible to accept this exploit without clarification from the Russians.

He urged Kennedy to temporize, and get answers from the Russians before accepting the exploit as valid.

Image

But Kennedy did nothing such; he said the trackings were corrects (when much to the contrary they were clearly showing the time shift between the oral transmission of the actual position of the ship), and phoned to Krutchev to congratulate him about Gagarin's exploit!

Image

And three weeks later, on may 5th 1961, the Americans were launching their first man to space, Alan Shepard.
Image

So, why did the Americans accept to lose the honor title of having the first man sent to space, when they had all the cards in hand to prove the Russian hoax?

Would they really have accepted that without a compensation from the Russians, and for something bigger than sending a first man to space?

And some weeks later after the pseudo Gagarin exploit, Kennedy makes a speech announcing that the Americans would put a man on the moon before the end of the decade!

Image

Before the end of the decade?

How could he be so sure?

When the difficulties were so great, and the technology still so primitive, not only compared with the technology of today, but even with the technology of the end of this decade!

Image

Nobody was still imagining at that time that the microprocessor would exist!

Image

What is one of the main piece of evidence that the Apollo believers are presenting?

"If it had been a hoax, the Russians would have seen it, and would have exposed it, especially in these times of cold war!"

Now, what do you think it would have happened with the Gagarin hoax, with all the proofs the Americans had, the recordings of the flight, if the Russians had talked about Apollo?

And losing Gagarin as the first man in space, a legend, would have been catastrophic for the Russians!

Why did NASA come forward to vouch for the event they had intelligence information pointing to a hoax?

Image

And those who saw what benefit they could take from the Gagarin hoax perfectly knew it.

Some people in the American government, looked the other way, and got dizzy about this very bad set-up from the Russians.

So was Gagarin at the origin of the Apollo project? Were Russians and Americans politically at odds but behind the scenes planning the big space exploration hoax ?

You decide!

I have an honest and perhaps naive question to ask.

Given that all those photos of the moon are fake (by LRO's clementine, Zond etc).

Does it mean that the dark side of the moon, which they have supposedly mapped, and that contains dozens of craters with Russian names, is fake? Does it mean that we haven't ever seen the real dark side of the moon?

good question... who really knows ?
pink floyd, maybe ?

i would have 'imagined', back in the day, that that would have been Hubble/whatevers
first mission, to map the dark side of the moon, but now, we just supposed to take LROs
word for it... i guess ?

'on good faith'...

I remember from a documentary some years ago, a person (being interviewed about the 'space race' etc.) commented that the interesting thing was that the Americans and Russians never seemed to 'compete' against each other in the way one would have expected (e.g. he orbits 20 times, I'll orbit 30 times, he stays in space 50 hours, I'll stay in space 60 hours).

They never really went toe-to-toe on anything tangible and tended to do their own thing in isolation and never bad-mouthed each other whilst doing it.

Of course nowadays it all looks so suspicious, but at the time we all thought so differently [bear in mind growing up in the UK in they still had us believe the Ruskies were going to come down the Irish Sea and 'invade' through west-Wales ].

No wonder the 'music industry' came up with 'Punk'...we were all Punk'd...

Yuri Gagarin interviewed on the BBC

I am tired of so many lies perhaps you can catch other lies here (like the full color footage of the mission), but this question by the interviewer confirms what I posted above, there were many contradictory reports about Gagarin space feat

full link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQQbcXOR8aw

4:45. Interviewer -- While we are talking about the ship in flight: There’s one small mystery which I think possibly you may be able to clear up for us, perhaps not but I’d like to try .. on the day that you were making the flight, or the day Moscow radioes describing you making the flight there appeared on our communist newspaper, the Daily Worker the report that the flight had been made successfully and that the fight(?*) had returned to the earth and that report was dated from Moscow the day before … I am sorry to put it at such length, but this created the impression of course that another flight had taken place and you were flown second and nobody has ever dispelled this yet would you do it now ?

Al is an interesting character.

He insists that the 1960's trips to the Moon were real because "he saw them with his own eye's"...

full link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVPBXKYidTs

He led the 'first' joint Soviet-US space mission... the absurd footage & their trip to Disneyworld can be seen in this movie...

full link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJT64IbPKgI

I also note connections (often whimsical) with Arthur C Clarke, 2001 Space Odyssey, Tom Hanks & Neil Armstrong.

In 1991 Al, quite logically, became Vice President of a Moscow bank.

Nasa's version of Al's walk is probably the 'best'.

This is a longer French version...

Perhaps they knew even at the time that the footage lacked 'believability'... this propaganda film feature's bare seconds of the footage (& only as part of the prologue).

Here is an awful photo (with stars!) of the EVA...

Sorry I missed much of this thread until now. I thought I would have to start one, but this is great. Yuri is truly one of the most entertaining examples of pure propaganda story telling, largely because he represented an attempt at uniting Russia's pensive, self-hating and intra-hating thinkers into a unified "Russian philosophy" of optimism. I highly recommend going to antique book shops and finding the books and pamphlets that were produced in Russia during his time, which told the adventures of the amazing Yuri Alexeyevich Gagarin, if you can find them. They are prizes of astoundingly stinky kitsch. If I can get my hands on one of them I saw, I'd like to scan it in and post the entire thing here.

On a related note, here is a shrewdly written article about Yuri's best friends and experts (who seem hilariously more knowledgeable than Yuri on all space matters).
from article (my emphasis) wrote:Porohnya is an important man. His name googles like crazy in Cyrillic and a carpet with his image hangs on the wall of his living/dining room. He was a success story during Soviet times and remains a success story today. Almost 80, he is currently director of the Centre for History Education overseeing all technical universities across Russia and is head of the historical department of the Moscow Aviation Institute. He has countless titles and is author of more than 100 scientific papers about technology, history, metallurgy and aerospace.
http://www.stevekorver.com/2011/04/yuri ... ce-flight/

As the article concludes with Vitaly Georgievich Volovich, Gagarin's post-flight medical examiner ...
He then poured us a bit more cognac and offered his service as fact checker for any future Gagarin book. ‘Truth is crucial. Mistakes not good.’
Two mutually exclusive statements to be sure, if they could be read as anything but the vaguest philosophical statements ever.

The BBC tells the tale of the Alexei Leonov space walk...

The First Spacewalk

How the first human to take steps in outer space nearly didn't return to Earth

Alex went through a lot...

Stress...
But to go into outer space… the stress is, in my opinion, so high, that to predict how a person will behave in this situation is impossible.”
blown up...
My suit was becoming deformed, my hands had slipped out of the gloves, my feet came out of the boots. The suit felt loose around my body. I had to do something.”
decompressed...
Leonov let out a little oxygen at a time to reduce the pressure. But as he did so, he started to feel the first hints of decompression sickness.

"I began to get pins and needles in my legs and hands. I was entering the danger zone, I knew this could be fatal.”
Cooked...
The extreme physical exertion had caused his temperature to soar; he was now at risk of heatstroke and sweating uncontrollably. The globules filled his helmet, obscuring his vision.
Confined...
Getting in the wrong way meant he had to turn himself around in the cramped space to make sure the umbilical cord was inside and the hatch was locked.

He says: “It was the most difficult thing: I’m in this suit and I had to turn around in the airlock. But with the perspiration, I couldn’t see anything.”

"I don’t normally sweat much, but on that day I lost 6kg in weight.”
Nearly blown up again...
As the oxygen pressure soared, Voskhod 2’s cabin became dangerously flammable.

The cosmonauts frantically worked to lower the temperature and the humidity. This halted the relentless rise in oxygen pressure, although it remained high for some time.

Eventually, the level began to fall. Leonov explains:

"Fortunately the engines produced no sparks. A spark would have caused an explosion and we would have been vaporized.”
Nearly lost in space...
But minutes before the retro-rockets were supposed to fire, kicking off the descent through the atmosphere, the spacecraft’s automatic re-entry system failed.

The men would have to fire the rockets manually – something that had never been done, and required incredible precision.

If the burn was too short, the Voskhod 2 would hit the atmosphere at too shallow an angle, bouncing back into space.

But if the burn continued for too long, it would come down at too steep an angle. This would cause it to plummet at much too high a speed - and be destroyed.

With the right burn duration, at the right time, the capsule would plunge through the atmosphere on a trajectory that would bring it down safely.
Then actually lost...
The rocket firing went well, but the cosmonauts had little control over where they would land.

The best they could hope for was that the craft would touch down somewhere in the Soviet Union’s vast landmass.
Then spun like crazy...
During the descent to Earth, the spacecraft’s equipment module, which contained engines and propellant, failed to fully detach as planned.

The cosmonauts were exposed to high G forces as both the equipment and descent modules of the spacecraft started tumbling.

However, the ordeal ended when the cable linking the modules burned through, freeing the cosmonauts’ capsule.
Then frozen...
As it got dark, the cosmonauts realised they would have to wring the moisture out of their suits to avoid frostbite.

Leonov had perspired so much on the spacewalk that his sweat was now sloshing around in the suit, up to his knees.

There was no way to cover the hatch opening, so they would have to cope as best they could as temperatures dropped to -25C.
Then, err, nearly eaten by Wolves...
Both cosmonauts had grown up at the forest’s edge, and understood its dangers.

It was home to wolves and bears, and March was mating season, when the animals were at their most aggressive...

...When we flew out of there, the rescuers said they saw wolf tracks around the spacecraft.”

Absolutely hilarious! Good find, Critical Mass. I love the giant sparks, er, sorry ... secret rocket formula compression errors.

And now for an actual experience you've witnessed with your own eyes depicting what we've said it is. Voila! Alakazam!

People buy this stuff as space history, but it belongs in a history of mass hysteria!
