EARTHRISE

If NASA faked the moon landings, does the agency have any credibility at all? Was the Space Shuttle program also a hoax? Is the International Space Station another one? Do not dismiss these hypotheses offhand. Check out our wider NASA research and make up your own mind about it all.

and so, onto the 1st "EARTHRISE" 'photographed' by 'man' - 2 stunning shots captured by the Apollo 8 crew, Christmas 1968. B)

Earthrise at Christmas

Thirty-five years ago this Christmas, a turbulent world looked to the heavens for a unique view of our home planet. This photo of "Earthrise" over the lunar horizon was taken by the Apollo 8 crew in December 1968, showing Earth for the first time as it appears from deep space.

Astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and William Anders had become the first humans to leave Earth orbit, entering lunar orbit on Christmas Eve. In a historic live broadcast that night, the crew took turns reading from the Book of Genesis, closing with a holiday wish from Commander Borman: "We close with good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas, and God bless all of you -- all of you on the good Earth."

Earthrise

The Apollo 16 crew captured this Earthrise with a handheld Hasselblad camera during the second revolution of the moon. Identifiable craters seen on the moon include Saha, Wyld and Saenger. Much of the terrain seen here is never visible from the Earth, as the command module was passing onto what is known as the 'dark side' of the moon.

Apollo 16 launched on April 16, 1972 and landed on the moon on April 20. The mission was commanded by John Young; Thomas K. Mattingly II was the command module pilot and Charles M. Duke, Jr. served as the lunar module pilot.

And this is the b&w 2nd image in thread.

Original Lunar Orbiter 1 Earthrise photo

The world's first view of Earth taken by a spacecraft from the vicinity of the Moon. The photo was transmitted to Earth by the United States Lunar Orbiter I and received at the NASA tracking station at Robledo De Chavela near Madrid, Spain. This crescent of the Earth was photographed August 23, 1966 at 16:35 GMT when the spacecraft was on its 16th orbit and just about to pass behind the Moon.

NASA's LRO Brings Earthrise to Everyone

On December 24, 1968, Apollo 8 Commander Frank Borman and crew members William A. Anders and James A. Lovell, Jr. became the first humans to photograph the Earth rising over the moon. Now, the rest of us can see what it was like in a new NASA visualization that draws on richly detailed maps of the moon's surface made from data gathered by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter!

This isnt the original bible-bashing broadcast, its a stitch-together run of the 1st 'manmade' "EARTHRISE" 'photos' B)

gotta respect the way it dont mean shit 'shot 1' is b&w !!!

The 2012 'LRO' 'Lunar Terrain-Mapping' allows us a new perspective on man's first "EARTHRISE" 'photos'.
So much 'Moon-Terrain' racing below 'Apollo 8' in the '58 seconds' between the 2 shots.

'You got a colour film, Jim?': New Nasa video reveals how first astronauts almost fluffed the most iconic image of our planet from space

'Earthrise' is the first-ever colour picture of our planet taken from space - a blue orb hovering over a grey moonscape, captured from Apollo 8 on December 24, 1968.
But a new 3D Nasa visualisation using hi-res moon images reveals how it nearly didn't happen.
'You got a colour film, Jim?' one astronaut calls out - and for nearly a minute, the crew scramble to find a camera for what would become one of the most famous photographs in history.
On December 24, 1968, three people saw this happen firsthand: Apollo 8 Commander Frank Borman and crew members William A. Anders and James A. Lovell, Jr.
'Oh my god look at that picture over there. Here's the Earth coming up,' says one of the astronauts in a recording Nasa used to reconstruct its 3D video. 'You got a colour film Jim. Hand me a roll of colour quick.'
One astronaut takes a picture with a black-and-white Hasselblad cameras on board the craft - then 58 seconds later, the crew found a colour camera.
'I got it ri - It's a beautiful shot.'
The picture 'Earthrise' was on the cover of Life's book '100 Photographs that Changed the World,' in which wilderness photographer Galen Rowell deemed it 'the most influential environmental photograph ever taken.'
The new visualisation is built using 'moon maps' from Nasa's currrent Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter - and allows modern viewers a glimpse of what the astronauts saw in 1968.

from comments:
They state this new picture was taken by an astronaut from apolo 8 and it was done with an ordinary camera, he said hay as anyone got a camera, and it also states that it was taken from a height of 68 miles. Now if you examine the moon surface here it is showing more detail than the recently released moon orbitor camera from a height of just 15 miles which is supposed to be showing the moon landing sites.

dunno what Apollo 9 was doing, but anyway heres more spacemans 'flyin' round the moon' taking
'holiday snapshots' & (FULL-COLOUR) 'videos'.
- "Apollo 10"

The fantastic quality of the colour of the Apollo 10 "EARTHRISE" movie was so exceptionally good; NA$A instructed
Neil & Buzz to completely abandon all colour filming of the moon later the same year during the historic
Apollo 11 1st 'Moon Landing' !!!

To capture the Full Earth, the Moon, Earth, Sun and KAGUYA's circulating orbits have
to fall into a straight line. This peculiar positioning occurs only 2 times a year.

Why is the Earth so small? Earth is four times bigger than the Moon
yet the Earth looks the same size as the moon viewed from the Earth?

This comment has received too many negative votes
fuck i never thought of that earth should look fucking huge its the same
distance both ways and the whole thing looked like a fake dog turd.

as has been verified by independent observers, the Earth & Moon
still encounter to this day many difficulties attempting to represent
their relative scale...

well yeah: 'Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders who took the famous "EARTHRISE" photo in 1968.'
except its flipped horizontally...
& the 'moon-horizon' different...
& "the 1st "EARTHRISE" shot was b&w": so this must be after Bill & the Boys
went right round moon 2nd/3rd/4th time, then.
