What you should be asking first is what the motive or end goal would be for doing it to begin with. Knowing that they have a world war 3 scenario in the works, and they are clearly building China up as one of the main enemies, maybe faking Chinese aircraft would have something to do with staging air attacks on America, military bases, Taiwan, etc?
