I don't know if this make a difference, but the article is copyright Scripps Media.
WXYZ-TV (Detroit) is owned by E. W. Scripps Company, and is an ABC affiliate, as opposed to being owned-and-operated by ABC.

Very interesting. So one could own and control the output of an affiliate to a greater extent than one could if one were wholly owned. Yet the appearance is of a mainstream (ergo 'legitimate') source of news with all the credibility that goes along with that. If someone(s) were to buy up a bunch of affiliates, one could to some extent penetrate the impenetrable wall of the mainstream media.

You know, we should give citations for these quotes for the sake of credibility because there is no direct source proving that William Colby actually said this. We are assuming that he said this because some guy named Dave McGowan asserts it in his book. I think quotes like this was put out there to discredit the actual facts like Operation Mockingbird which does prove CIA control of the media.

I did give a citation for the quote: "David McGowan in Derailing Democracy." If you think McGowan is lying then you should take it up with him. His email address is: dave@davesweb.cnchost.com

My guess is Dave would tell you his source for the quote is the book The Oklahoma City Bombing and the Politics of Terror, by David Hoffman who published the quote before McGowan did.

Where did Hoffman get the information? Sorry, I don't know. Perhaps you can find contact information for Hoffman in his book. I believe a copy has been put up online for free download.

BTW, David McGowan isn't just "some guy." He's a journalist, researcher and author of a number of well respected books and articles. I've read a number of his works and he normally does give sources for his information so I have no particular reason to doubt him. I certainly don't think he's trying to "discredit the actual facts" regarding the CIA control of the media. In fact he's gone to great lengths with little reward to inform the public about just that sort of thing. Perhaps if you read some of his works you would agree. He has written a great deal of information which supports the Colby quote.

I suggest you start with his famous Laurel Canyon articles which give evidence along the line of CIA/military/intelligence involvement in controlling the rock music industry and "hippie generation" of the 1960s-70s and beyond. The articles are free and begin here:

As I've said before, I strongly suggest every forum member read the Laurel Canyon series. After septclues and this forum, I find it to be the most compelling extended analysis of anything I've ever read.

I have to second...or is it third...that. A truly amazing eye opening series. It's difficult to be shocked these days or discover some new angle or revelation, but this is it. You will never look at the 60's in the same way again.

I'll 'fourth' that. Dave's "Laurel Canyon" series is unputdownable - and so is his masterful and hugely entertaining series ridiculing the purported NASA moon landings, "Wagging the Moondoggie".

Unfortunately, last time I checked, his take on 9/11 is that 'no planes at the WTC/TV fakery' is disinfo... :(

Oh well, nobody's perfect.

But, if you like Dave's writing I recommend his book Programmed to Kill: The Politics of Serial Murder. It takes a strong stomach to get through it but it provides an eye-opening exposé of the "serial killer" scam that was perpetrated on the masses for decades.

This is addressed to the Amins/Mods

With all the wealth of information being posted on this and many other topics is it possible to have a 'repository' for such things in the following manner?

Books - Recommended Reads
Videos - Recommended to watch
Websites/Blogs - Recommended reads
Internet Tips - Methods to Use for Photo/Image-capture/Video etc

I know that a lot is down to the individual to read posts that may be of more interest than others and thereafter glean whatever information may be relevant however, because there is such a multitude of good stuff being posted by people which may be missed by others, it would be great if there was a place of reference one could fall back to when one's interest was peaked on a particular subject.

Not wishing to add to your burden in maintaining this great site but if it is worth some consideration I would be interested to hear about what you may be able to do.

If not, I will have to keep a pad and pencil by my mouse pad in future!

Well it is among the things I wanted to do, to expand the tips area to a collection of links and reads. But --aside of finding the time-- there is the problem of whom takes responsibility to collect this information. We might disagree on this or that choice, etc. So we would end up having a thread debating which sources we should promote etc., which could end up to be a time-waster and a bit redundant.
On the other hand the "tools of the trade" thread certainly can and should be expanded...

Thanx for that link, it struck a bit of a chord with me.
Warner Brothers were so keen to introduce that employment ruling in NZ, Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings director) crawled up Prime Minister John Key's arse to get the country's employment laws changed. Which for Key would have been a labour of love.
Just so Warner Brothers would agree to have the Hobbit filmed in NZ.

In effect those at the bottom of the heap had to be employed as self employed sub contractors, as opposed to being employed by Warner Brothers.

CAFCA a leftist political group opposed to foreign ownership & intereference of New Zealand sovereignty, awarded Warner Brothers their annual "Roger Award", as well as formulating a special "Quisling Award" for Sir Peter Jackson himself.

It was a clean sweep at awards night for Warner Brothers and key players in the “Hobbit bill” movies last night – but the Rogers are nothing quite as glitzy as the Oscars.

Warner Brothers claimed the top award for the worst transnational corporation operating in New Zealand.

Prime Minister John Key and his government won the “accomplice” award, while Peter Jackson won the “special quisling award” – both for their involvement in the Employment Relations (Film Production Work) Amendment Bill, or the so-called Hobbit bill

Simon... after having read the Laurel Canyon series I'm curious what your opinion is today of Zappa. If I'm not mistaken you were a pretty big admirer of his, as I was. (Always loved your "I'm The Slime" remix :))

Thanx Hoi, there's always been something about the Lord of the Rings trilogy that's sort of bugged me. The release dates coincided nicely with 9/11.

It's as though there was some sort of intended subliminal mind control conditioning. With real footage seamlessly merging with CGI special effects footage.

Conveniently being a distraction from the events following 9/11. The release of "The Two Towers" (with obvious connotations) followed by the mission accomplished feel of the "Return of the King"
(not that I'm an expert having not read the books or watched the movies)

Like 9/11 Lord of the Rings was years in the making before it was pulled off. Both having the Warner Brothers connections.

The special effects CGI stuff was handled by Weta Digital,

The Weta Digital crew
Our team of digital artists are world-leaders in all areas of visual effects production, including animation, motion capture, crowd generation, modelling, compositing, and film scanning and recording

http://www.wetafx.co.nz/about

There is even a link to Weta Digital from the website of that company Blast Code, who specialise in the digital simulation of controlled demolitions.
http://www.blastcode.com/companyinfo/pr ... cle=060325

But of course they couldn't have been involved in any of the fake 9/11 landscape footage, because they were to busy making the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Oooh pleeze - don't remind me of that...*sob* - it's one of those rare things I prefer to keep locked in my mind's backdrawer - and believe me, there's not much stuff I store in there ! ^_^
