Over 230 dead in a fire in a Brazilian nightclub
As you probably know already, a nightclub in Santa Maria (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) was reported to have caught fire two nights ago. Many young people are reported dead (I suppose primarily from suffocation).
I haven't looked further into it, but it doesn't look like a psy-op to me.
Nevertheless, a couple of the pictures (see link below) feature details we have come to associate with drills or psy-ops:
One computer print-out of a victim
Flowers on the ground
Morbid behavior (dancing) at the funeral
Mineral water handouts
President crying
Inconsistencies in the death toll
If the incident really happened, some questions come to mind:
- Are these natural elements and behaviors which have long been copied and caricatured in psy-ops?
- Have these elements and behaviors become "natural" because of the massive influence of TV, especially since 9/11? Is reality now copying fiction?
- Do photographers and politicians rush to the opportunity of self-promotion, shedding tears or placing flowers on the street, thereby raising suspicion?
It would seem that recognizing reality is a precondition for recognizing fakery. So I wonder, while we generally focus on indications of fakery, introducing a certain bias into our analysis, what would we be looking for as an indication of reality?
Loads of pictures:

Thanks, dear Flabbergasted - for addressing the KISS disco event. Since you are in Brazil, I was waiting for a cue from you, as I simply dread the thought of such an apparent, random fire-tragedy being some new (unfathomable) psyop of sorts.
For the record, this picture seems to be the most international / iconic image of the event "as it happened":
Alas, I can't help myself but wondering :
- Where is that man (carrying his big, wounded friend) headed ? To an ambulance stationed behind the cameraman?
And no one else around (let alone the photographer) offers to help him carry that big and heavy body to safety?
- Why is the shadow of that heroic man (and victim) so much longer than the shadow of the guy running beside them?

Carrying dead weight up a hill, one might construe. Is there a secret visual language by which the global perps communicate with each other over the so-called media? The repeating patterns, the blue striped shirt, the bottles of water etc etc. There is water bottle in this one also. So, who might be sending "Carrying dead weight up a hill", and to whom might it be communicated??simonshack wrote:*

Last night I watched this week's episode of Girls, an HBO comedy/drama series, second season.
The following story line involes Marnie (played by Allison Williams, who also happens to be the daughter of NBC Nightly news anchor Brian Willams).
"Booth", who is an artist, and on whom Marnie has a mad infatuation, takes Marnie to his place. He shows her around. He invites her to step into his "best thing I ever made" creation, (see above image), and locks her in.
He plugs in the electric cord.
"Barely Breathing" lyrics play (no intro).
Gory images of animals being killed, and what not, play on the television screens. He also threw in the image and sound of a baby crying.
He goes about his other business around the house, while leaving Marnie to cower in fear, not knowing what is going on, nor what to expect next.
Finally, he ends the torment, lets her free.
Of course, she is relieved. And even calls him "talented".
Later, they have relations, and not in a kind and loving way, she being submissive.
Anyway, I bring this up, because to me, the metaphor is showing -- the overpowering media taking control of the much less powerful.
Edit to add:
Another thought.
Maybe, probably, it's meant to show that that is how we are supposed to react to fear media.
Cower in the corner, and be submissive.
Don't try to find a way out of the media cage.
Someone will come to save you, to whom you then owe your life.

Great post, HonestlyNow.

Dear Flabbergasted in Brazil,
What do you make of this graffiti ("Pixo em luto- péga nòs 245?") and what exactly does it mean? My Portuguese/Brazilian is rather poor, and all I can make out is something like :
"Graffiti in mourning - 245 were grabbed?"
http://noticias.uol.com.br/album/2013/0 ... fotoNav=88
So what's the final death toll down your side? 245? 2+4+5 = 11? I hope not!

The top photo could be a file photo from the news archives. Could be years old and renovations may have occured. Not unusual to me.simonshack wrote:*

Story is believable to me. These things happen.
Check out Rhode Island Station nightclub fire 2003 (100 deaths).
This video shows how fast a nightclub can go up in flames. Powerful and graphic video:

Good question, Simon! "Pixo em luto" means "I spray in mourning (or grief)". The rest (apparently "péga nós") makes no sense to me. Maybe we are misreading the "canwriting".simonshack wrote:What do you make of this graffiti ("Pixo em luto- péga nòs 245?") and what exactly does it mean?
I still haven't had much time to read the news reports, but the fire is said to have started in the ceiling which was padded with some foamy substance for acoustic insulation. The damage to the windows and doors on the outside is said to have been done by firefighters to facilitate access/removal (and get the smoke out faster?).
Here is a list of the victims according to Folha de S. Paulo:
http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/cotidiano/ ... o-rs.shtml
Current status: 231 dead; 106 hospitalized.
This other important news site says "at least 232 dead". It also says the police had originally informed the number 245 but later corrected it.

I agree the blue-and-white-striped shirt is an interesting find in several of the incidents investigated on the forum, but before we establish it as a possible or even likely indication of psyop/drill/fakery, it would be interesting to determine the likelihood of occurrence of this pattern in a random sample of people on the street. How likely are we to see a blue-and-white-striped shirt (or similar) in the window of a men's clothing store?brianv wrote:Oh gawd it's worse than Miss Marple. Anytime somebody puts on a blue and white striped shirt there's a disaster. They're all over this one. Ban blue and white striped shirts NOW! Burn baby burn! Disco Inferno! Sorry!
I am not questioning the significance of the find, but I mention it because of the questions I raised on the previous page, and which I hope some of you will have time to address.
These look like pretty healthy corpses to me:

I'm no doctor but don't asphyxiated corpses usually show distinct discoloration of the skin? And, why are nearly all of the faces turned away from the camera?

^ That interior through the window is pretty much the worst piece of shooping I've ever seen!
