Call me paranoid but ...

There are drugs in common usage that are known to cause "suicidal thoughts or actions." They are advertised on TV every day and the public is told right there during the commercials about this "side effect" (usually while pictures of happy smiling people are flashed across the screen).

There are also known ways of introducing drugs into the bloodstream via contact with the skin.

These suicide reports (assuming there is some truth to them) began with the introduction of the iPad. The iPad is a very tactile device meant to be touched all over.

Could the iPad have been intended as a, shall we say, "over-population" solution? Maybe a little something special added to the plastic case or screen? Maybe they added a little too much at first? And, the factory workers were right there handling the stuff all day long? Maybe Jobs found out and objected? Not that I think of Jobs as a hero -- I'm just letting my paranoid delusions have their way.

Well, Lux, I can't see what possible rationale or benefit a 'poisoned' product could have for any corporation, especially something that would be so random and uncontrolled.

My brand of 'paranoia' is actually a highly suspicious and skeptically cynical view of everything presented by the perp owned Media.

So, my first question is always, why and for what purpose is this story being published?
We suddenly have "investigative journalists" who really give a shit about foreign workers? Serously, think about it.

There is no way to know if any of it is based on fact to begin with, but even if it were, what is the comparison with other factory workers' conditions and/or 'suicide rates' in China (even supposing the Chinese authorities would ever supply such information ).

The only 'reason' I see for their printing this story is that it must have some propaganda and sales benefit for the corporations involved by inflating the alleged popularity and demand for their products — i.e. a volume so demanding that poor, exploited Asian workers can't handle it!
[Perhaps the subliminal message to Western factory workers is supposed to be, see how well off you really are? Be grateful!]
Maybe the alleged supplier's name is a clue too, Foxconn?

My thought had nothing to do with any benefit (in the usual sense) to any corporation. I was not thinking of it in terms of a scam or a way to promote a product. Bad people do bad things that often have no sensible 'rationale.'
