Cave of the Patriarchs Massacre 1994

This is the forum dedicated to all 'minor' local psyops - phony murders, kidnappings and whatnot. It has now become evident that the news media constantly feeds the public with entirely fake stories - in order to keep us in eternal fear of our next-door neighbours and fellow citizens.

Cave of the Patriarchs Massacre 1994

Blast from the past.
Back in '94 American born, doctor, JDL member and alleged religious extremist Baruch Goldstein walked into a room in the Cave of the Patriarchs with an automatic weapon. He was:
...wearing an Israeli army uniform "with the insignia of rank, creating the image of a reserve officer on active duty". He then opened fire, killing 29 worshippers and wounding more than 125. Mosque guard Mohammad Suleiman Abu Saleh said he thought that Goldstein was trying to kill as many people as possible, and described how there were "bodies and blood everywhere". Eventually, Goldstein was overcome and beaten to death by survivors of the massacre.

Brief context---------------------------------------------------------

This was during the term of PM Yitzhak Rabin.
In 1992, Rabin was re-elected as prime minister on a platform embracing the Israeli–Palestinian peace process. He signed several historic agreements with the Palestinian leadership as part of the Oslo Accords. In 1994, Rabin won the Nobel Peace Prize together with long-time political rival Shimon Peres and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

The Rabin led peace process was budding and flowering as we can all imagine (or remember?) and everyone was looking forward to peace on earth etc, when the "massacre" happened causing so much drama, clashes and retaliation, wailing and gnashing of teeth, etc.
Then, about 20 months later, probably Rabin was still making progress, (I'm too lazy to check!), when yet another extremist fatefully appeared and killed the fruits, Rabin, and the peace process.
Oh, if only!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The way I've lined up things here I wonder whether the major goal of the massacre was to prove these extremists do such things in order to make the Rabin shooting more plausible...

Anyways, both shooting events are surrounded by a swirling shit-storm of conspiracy stories - stories that will sound very familiar to seasoned members / readers of this forum - the kinds of stories that, (perhaps "prove" is too strong a word), strongly indicate that these are hoax events.

Leaving aside the assassination, here is the flavour of the tales around the "Patriarch's massacre" (I realise these clippings will not persuade anyone who is not familiar with the formula of hoaxery that this was a staged event).

MASSACRE IN IBRAHIMI MOSQUE IN HEBRON

[...]

EYEWITNESS REPORT #1:

Suleiman Abu Saleh, the Guard at the Ibrahimi Mosque, told PHRIC:

[...] At the Ishaqiyeh entrance to the mosque, a settler in army uniform with three stripes appeared. [...] I prevented him from entering [...] because it's forbidden for soldiers to enter the mosque during prayer. He hit me on my chest with his rifle and he entered by force after I had fallen on the ground. He then opened fire with his automatic weapon -- the weapon was smaller than a M16 or a Galili rifle. He fired indiscriminately and extensively.

He went out and shot in the air, then he went back in and fired indiscriminately at the worshippers. He changed his ammunition clip another time and then went back in and shot at the worshippers again indiscriminately.
The guard was hanging around while a shooter goes in and out of a room firing "indiscriminately"?
EYEWITNESS REPORT #2:

According to a taxi driver, Ashraf Mitzab, who transported four wounded to Makassed, Palestinians were wounded by both settlers and soldiers:

There were 600-700 worshippers in Ibrahimi for the dawn prayer. At 5:20 a.m., when people, the old, children and men were bowed in prayer with their heads to the ground, an Israeli came into the mosque. He was dressed in military clothes and carrying a machine gun and had passed the Israeli soldiers standing guard near the door of the mosque. He began shooting from the back of the mosque and had time to change the clip on his machinegun and continue shooting. People tried to run away but soldiers came into the mosque and used tear gas at the entrance and also opened fire at people. It was impossible to tell who was shot by the settler and who by the soldiers. It all happened at the same time.

I took four injured people in my taxi. One was seriously injured in the head. The army forbade anyone to come or leave. My car was shot at as I was leaving the area. Also an Israeli guard at the Dabboyya building in the center of Hebron shot at us. There was no one on the streets on the way. When I left there were helicopters spraying gas over the whole city. My car and an ambulance which was travelling behind me were stopped at the checkpost at Beit Ummar.
So, where was this guy standing to have observed all that? In the mosque, or outside? You would think he was praying, in which case he never would have seen the gunman enter. He knows the gunman was dressed in military clothes, but also calls him "the settler". How could he know that?
One thing is for sure, according to this "eye-witness", the soldiers were in on it! We've got a conspiracy folks!

From the book: Jewish Terrorism in Israel
https://books.google.co.jp/books?id=DF0 ... &q&f=false
Goldstein had tossed a handgrenade into the centre of the room and immediately opened fire on the worshippers. [...] After firing more than 100 bullets, the weapon jammed, and the gunfire finally stopped. It was then that some of the worshippers [...] began to lay into the murderer with a fire extinguisher [...].

Reports after the massacre were often contradictory. There was initial uncertainty about whether Goldstein had acted alone; it was reported that eyewitnesses had seen "another man, also dressed as a soldier, handing him ammunition". There were many testimonies that made mention of Israeli guards outside the cave having opened fire. Israeli military officials claim that no Israeli troops fired on the Palestinian worshippers. However, The New York Times interviewed over 40 Palestinian eyewitnesses, many of whom were confined to hospital beds with gunshot wounds, and thus "unable to compare notes". All witnesses corroborated that three Israeli guards opened fire, likely in panic amid the confusion, as the Muslims fled the shrine, with at least one soldier firing into the crowd. [...]
The testimony of various Israeli military officials was often contradictory. For instance, Danny Yatom asserted that two of the guards had fired six or seven shots in the confusion "but only in the air," while the two guards themselves, sergeants Kobi Yosef and Niv Drori, later testified to firing four shots "chest high". The guards' testimony was also at odds with the testimony of their ranking officer in claiming they had seen another Jewish settler enter the cave bearing arms.
There are enough contradictions here to keep a "truther" busy investigating for decades and never get anywhere.

A loving mother and more conspiracy tales:

Mosque gunman's mother says she's proud of him

The Boston Globe -- March 5, 1994

JERUSALEM -- The mother of Baruch Goldstein, the Jewish settler who massacred about 40 Palestinians in a Hebron mosque a week ago, says she is proud of her son.

"I always thought to myself, 'When would someone get up and do such a thing?' And in the end, my son did it," Miriam Goldstein told the weekly Shishi newspaper.

Mosque killer aided, testimony suggests

Israeli guards tell of second settler

The Boston Globe --March 18, 1994

JERUSALEM -- In dramatic testimony that raised the possibility mass murderer Baruch Goldstein had an accomplice, two Israeli army guards yesterday said a second settler entered Hebron's Tomb of the Patriarchs on Feb. 25 shortly after gunman Goldstein did.

The guards testified that when Goldstein went into the tomb he was armed with a different gun from the Galil assault rifle found by his body after the massacre of Muslim worshipers. The second settler was carrying a Galil, they said.
Now for the official NIST/Warren inquiry report:

https://embassies.gov.il/MFA/AboutIsrae ... 20THE.aspx
The evidence presented to us indicates that he acted alone. We were not presented with credible proof that he was helped, while carrying out the killing or prior to that time, by another individual acting as an accomplice, nor was it proven to us that he had secret partners.
[...]
No fragments of a hand grenade were found in the hall nor were there signs of damage caused by grenade fragments in the walls. No hand grenade fragments were found in the bodies of the injured who were operated on or x-rayed.
[...]
Therefore, the allegations that shots with different sounds were heard, that the barrel of a weapon was inserted through an opening from the Abraham Hall; accounts of the presence of three, six or even seven gunmen; as well as other similar claims made by some of the Moslem worshipers were inconsistent, and have not been substantiated. Nor have they been in any way supported by the Waqf workers, Salmon or Abu Salah.
[...]
The question arises, of whether the [Jewish] worshipers from the early morning prayer group at the Abraham Hall helped Goldstein by giving tacit consent to the opening of the door leading from the Abraham Hall to the Isaac Hall, in order to enable Goldstein to enter the Isaac Hall. This theory was brought up in Second Lieutenant Ravivi's first statement. The worshipers, all of whom have been questioned in the matter, have denied this entirely.
...and on it goes...

We have the usual set-up: the many shooters, assistance from soldiers, another settler feeding ammunition, grenades etc; the denials by the official report - it's just a cover up! ; the multitude of contradictions and loose ends (of which I have probably just scratched the surface).
We have the hallmarks of a hoax.
All these clues, reports, denials, claims and counter claims and on and on, while, at the base of this, we are not to question the notion that a man got up one morning, leaving his four young children, to go on a suicidal murder spree.

The United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 904 condemning the massacre and called for measures to protect Palestinian civilians including disarming Israeli settlers.
It occurs to me that the fates of the state of Israel and the UN are very closely intertwined. The founding of the UN was very closely followed by the founding of Israel.

1945 UN established
1947 UN resolves to divide the Palestinian mandate into Jewish and Arab states.

https://mfa.gov.il/Jubilee-years/Pages/ ... srael.aspx
Resolution 181 was adopted by the UN General Assembly on November 29, 1947, with 33 countries voting in favor, 13 countries against, and with 10 countries abstaining.
Israel becomes a full member of the UN in 1949

It was very convenient having a world governing body handy because it gave an international legitimacy to the creation of this state.

And since then, every clash and war and battle and skirmish and "massacre" and "kidnapping" means that the media are going to be telling us about the UN getting into action: stern words, finger waving, posturing and who knows? maybe even a resolution or two? Anyway, the point is that we see them on the world stage looking important. They are doing stuff.

https://news.un.org/en/story/2023/10/1142012
Top UN officials were “in close contact with all concerned to urge maximum restraint” following “horrific scenes of violence” that left dozens dead and hundreds wounded in Israeli cities near the Gaza Strip amid rocket attacks by armed Palestinian militants early Saturday morning, with the UN Security Council announcing it would hold a Sunday afternoon private meeting to discuss the matter.
The UN helped to gift Israel to the world.
Ever since Israel has been returning the favour, manifesting situations that put the UN in the spotlight, making it look, (perhaps to some people?), like a relevant and even necessary, body: perhaps the only thing that can ever set things right...
Isn't it comforting that the UN is on the job?
