Good research on the Amazon 'non-book.'
However, what do you make of the following video on YouTube (the only actual video footage I can find of this supposed Marie Colvin character):

Did they use an actress, and then simulate the younger version of Colvin for other press images?
Notice also that they refer extensively to other psyops here, like the Wikileaks deception.
I see that Anderson Cooper (Vanderbilt family) has put a lot of effort into substantiating Colvin's status as a bona fide, real flesh and blood professional correspondent he has worked with in the past.
But there is a long list of London-based journalists who also claimed to know Colvin:
Piers Morgan
John Witherow, editor of The Sunday Times
Andrew Neil, presenter and former Sunday Times editor
Richard Beeston, foreign editor, The Times
Con Coughlin, executive foreign editor, The Telegraph
Peter Beaumont, foreign editor, The Guardian
Paul Danahar, BBC Middle East bureau chief
Lyse Doucet, BBC journalist and presenter
Chris Ryder, former Sunday Times journalist
Roy Greenslade, journalist, The Guardian
Jim Muir, BBC correspondent in Beirut
Patrick Cockburn, journalist for The Independent
Jon Snow
I suppose they could always claim at a later date that they were 'tricked,' if they choose their words carefully when telling anecdotes of Colvin.
